People in the 1980s

The 1980s was a diverse and dynamic decade, and different people had their own unique styles and cultural influences. Here are a few examples of different types of people in the 1980s:

  1. Yuppies (Young Urban Professionals) were a prevalent group in the 1980s. They were typically college-educated and well-educated individuals who worked in white-collar jobs and had a high disposable income. They were known for their trendy and expensive fashion choices, as well as their interest in status symbols such as designer brands, luxury cars, and high-end restaurants.

  2. Punk and New Romantic subcultures were also popular in the 1980s. Punk was a rebellious, anti-establishment movement that originated in the 1970s and evolved in the 1980s. Punks were known for their distinctive fashion, which included leather jackets, studded belts, and torn clothing. The New Romantics, on the other hand, were a more flamboyant and theatrical subculture that was heavily influenced by fashion and music. They were known for their elaborate costumes, large hair, and outrageous makeup.

  3. Preppies were a different subculture that became popular in the 1980s, characterized by their preppy and conservative fashion, including polo shirts, khaki pants, and navy blazers. They were often associated with affluent, upper-class backgrounds and the Ivy League.

  4. Fitness and health conscious people became popular during the 80s with the boom of aerobics classes and the popularity of personal fitness. This group of people were often seen in sportswear and their focus was on staying fit and healthy through exercises, healthy diets and regular checkups.

  5. The so-called "regular folk" who didn't identify with any particular subculture was also a prevalent group, they wore fashion that was practical, comfortable and often influenced by the pop-culture at that time.

These are just a few examples of different types of people in the 1980s, and the reality was more complex and diverse. However, it gives a general idea of some of the subcultures that emerged during that time and their characteristics.
